Election Results in Uttar Pradesh, India and what Nepal could Learn:

Leaders like Donald Trump in U.S., Narendra Modi in India and Khadga Prashad Oli in Nepal are hugely popular among their respective constituencies— white supremacists for Trump , Hindu nationalists for Modi , Khas Aryas for Khadga Prashad Oli  and all three are highly resented by those who disagree with them.  All three of them are powerful orators. They have rhetorics in their speeches and cleverly point out the discontents of the ruling Government or the past Government. They are somehow polarizing figures. They are experts in bringing humour in their speeches while trying to deliver what they want to deliver. No doubt that they have contribution in bringing the right wing in rise in 21st century.
No doubt right wing is at rise in the world. Whether be the victory of Modi or result of Brexit. South Asia has a positive message to learn from the victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which governs India today and which provides prime minister to the nation. The victory of BJP is the biggest for any political party since 1980. It should give three positive messages to south asian countries like Nepal:

    1.  Caste politics:
Caste of people in Nepal have a great influence in election. The Khas Aryas who have the strong hold in national politics since last 250 years have been enjoying the majority in election even after the people’s movement 2 in Nepal. This is due to gerrymandering of the constituencies. So there was a demand of new state delineation. The restructured states and federalism also presents six out of seven salamanders. Madhesis, Tharu, indigenous people are in protest against it while leaders as of Khadga Prasad Oli are against it as it would disturb their victory in their respective constituency. The lessons are to be learnt by Nepalese people by the fall of Akhilesh Yadav and Mayadevi in UP election 2017. Their parties had mainly focused the other backward classes, dalits, muslims or minorities. It is not the caste that matters but the development. People should learn this.

   2.    Religion politics:
Nepal has a mixed election system where votes can be given directly to the candidates by first past the post system and votes can be given to the parties whereby the parties choose parliamentarians proportionately. A party called Rastriya Prajantra Party used the proportionate system by spreading that they wanted to make Nepal a Hindu state. Even the strongest leaders of the party did not fight direct election but made themselves the parliamentarians by this proportionate system as more than 70 % of people of Nepal as Hindus. Amit Shah in a press meet today after the clear victory in UP said "We need to come out of Hindu-Muslim politics. Everyone wants development and performance." It was guessed by leaders like Mayabati that muslims and minorities would never vote BJP. But they voted not in favour of any religion but in favour of development and strong stands BJP took against corruption. People of Nepal too should vote not of the basis of any particular religion they have faith on but on the basis of sincerity of leaders and promises they give.

   3.    Family politics:
Many leaders in Nepal are leaders simply because their parents had struggled a lot for establishing democracy in Nepal. Whether be the Koirala or Yadavs in Nepal, they must learn from UP election that they will not be trusted always by the people just because of their family line. The humiliating defeat of Congress  whose campaigns are lead by Rahul Gandhi who is considered to be even the political heir of Gandhi family should be a lesson to all.

People have started taking decisions based on rationality rather than only nationality issues. Hope people and politicians of Nepal will get it soon!!!
